Can you run up the stairs?

YES. I do workout classes for charities and companies, plus 45 minutes of training with my wife Sandra each day.

How has the pandemic affected you?

The pandemic has been my busiest time ever. I’ve done 350 interviews all over the world since March last year.

Get your five a day?

I don’t eat meat, so I eat a lot of vegetables. Every morning I have Ready Brek with bananas, grapes and flax seed. I eat loads of green veg, too.

Ever dieted?

Never. My weight never fluctuates. I’m 6ft and weight 14 st 1 lb (90 kg). And I’m just packed with muscle.

Any vices?

Once a month, for two days, I have some M&Ms and some plain crisps.

Any family ailments?

None. I only met my dad when I was 25 and he died aged about 66. Drink got him. My mother — whom I only met when I was 45, as I was adopted at three months old — is still alive at 90. Long life is in my family. I’ve got this vision of me at 114 in saggy Lycra.

Worst injury?

Six years ago I was doing the gymnastics show Tumble for the BBC and I dislocated my right knee and ripped a tendon. They told me I’d be out of action for nearly a year; I was up and moving in three weeks.

Had anything removed?

A cataract in my right eye six years ago. I’d been aware of a blur in my eye that I tried to rub away.

Ever have plastic surgery?

If I had a bag under one of my eyes that I didn’t like, then I’d get rid of it.

Cope well with pain?

YES, even when I dislocated my knee. And I’ve never vomited. People talk about feeling nauseous and I don’t know what they’re talking about.

'I¿ve only slept five hours a night for the past 30 years'

Ever been depressed?

No. AT times it’s been hard to find hope; I’ve worried about the future and wanting the best for my children, Carolyne, 48; James, 38; and Abigail, 24.

Hangover cure?

I hated the headaches from alcohol, so I haven’t touched it for 15 years.

What keeps you awake?

I’ve only slept five hours a night for the past 30 years. I go to sleep at midnight and get up at 5am. The only thing that keeps me awake is if Abigail, who lives with us and has type 1 diabetes, is having a blood sugar low. She wears a monitor that connects to my phone and if I hear a beep, I check she’s OK.

Any phobias?

No. I’ve lived in Jamaica for years and seen all the creepy crawlies, lizards and flying insects you can imagine.

Like to live for ever?

I am going to live for ever.
