Gary Valenciano, also known as Gary V., is a Filipino dancer, singer-songwriter, musician, music producer, actor, and television personality.

He is presently an ABS-CBN contract artist, having previously been on the Sunday noontime musical variety program ASAP and the weekday noontime singing contest component of It’s Showtime. Valenciano is regularly called upon to perform theme songs for the channel’s soap operas and its in-house film division, Star Cinema.

Valenciano made his first TV appearance in 1978, at the age of 14, in an advertisement for Fress Gusto, which is now a now-discontinued soft drink manufactured by San Miguel Corporation.

Recently, there was a shock to the Valenciano family when it was announced that Grimilda Ortiz was no more in this world.

Gary Valenciano’s mother, Grimilda Ortiz, died on April 17 in Orlando, Florida, after suffering from many ailments.

She was usually the life of the party, but last week was especially difficult for her since she had to fight against different diseases of the flu all at the same time in her 84-year-old body. Despite many illnesses, she was brave and fought them till the end.

Her friends and family will remember her odd remarks, jokes, words of encouragement, laughter, and her habit of staying in the driveway waving farewell till their car turned the corner.

Grimilda Santiago Ortiz and Emerita Olmo-Santiago were the oldest of five girls born in Arecibo to loving parents, Agustin and Emerita Olmo-Santiago. Grimi and her sisters, Mirutha and Lula, lost two sisters and their beloved mother to sickness when they were eight years old.

Grimi was a devoted wife, a mother to 11, a grandmother to 31, a great-grandma to 17, and a dear friend to hundreds. As Mom, Tita Grimi, or Mamita, she kindly gave levity and affection to everybody.

Grimilda was a fantastic cook and a flawless fashionista. She infused everything with wit and comedy, even the most difficult situations, constantly encouraging and empowering everyone to first love and ask any questions afterward.

He is the sixth of seven children. His parents first met in New York City, were married, and moved to Manila.
