From Hollyoaks to Hope Ali Bastian’s Faces Breast Cancer battle, the beloved actress known for her role as Becca Dean in the popular Channel 4 soap opera Hollyoaks, has recently shared her brave battle with stage two breast cancer. The 42-year-old, who had just moved to Ireland with her family for a fresh start, was left in “total shock” upon receiving her diagnosis.

In a candid interview with OK! Magazine, Bastian revealed that she discovered a lump while breastfeeding her daughter, Isabella. Initially, she believed it was a blocked duct, but after a course of antibiotics failed to alleviate the issue, she sought help at a breast clinic.

Bastian’s Diagnosis and Treatment Plan

Bastian, who is also a mother to four-year-old Isla, is currently undergoing weekly chemotherapy treatment. Early next year, she is scheduled to undergo a mastectomy and radiotherapy treatment.

The actress expressed her gratitude towards the doctor who delivered her diagnosis, stating that she felt reassured by the physician’s intention to help her recover. In addition to her medical treatment, she is consulting with a psychologist who specializes in oncology.

Bastian has shared an age-appropriate version of her diagnosis with her daughter, explaining that “Mummy had a pain in her breast” and that she will be taking strong medication to help.

The actress has also received support from her former Hollyoaks co-stars, including Sarah Jayne Dunn, Carley Stenson, and Jodi Albert. Bastian expressed a strong desire to return to acting, stating, “I will overcome this and emerge stronger.”
