The band announced in August 2024 that Homme would receive “essential medical care” and that the rest of the year’s concerts were off the table. Homme, reflecting in a July 30 interview, shared that within about 20 hours of their acoustic show at the Paris Catacombs, he was sedated and hospitalized—and then “spent the next seven months in bed”.

In August 2024, Queens of the Stone Age issued a statement via X announcing the cancellation and postponement of every remaining 2024 concert. They said, “Josh has been given no choice but to prioritize his health and to receive essential medical care through the remainder of the year”.
