Matthew Taylor Coleman, a resident of Santa Barbara, was apprehended by US Customs and Border Protection officers in August 2021 as he attempted to enter Mexico. He was arrested after the bodies of two young children were discovered on a farm on Monday, August 9.
He entered a not guilty plea to the two counts of murdering his 10-month-old daughter and 2-year-old son in a foreign country.

Coleman arrived at the City Express Hotel in the beach town of Rosarito after crossing into Mexico. Authorities claim that he stayed there two days before taking Kaleo and Roxy to a neighboring ranch and shooting them to death with a fishing pistol.
The Baja California Attorney General’s Office published a security video showing Coleman and kids checking into a hotel in Rosarito, Baja California, according to the Find My iPhone function. The bodies of their kids were found near a bush and they were shot with a fishing gun.
It has recently come to light that Matthew believed in a conspiracy that someone wanted to cause harm to his family. He believed that his wife had serpent DNA and had passed that on to his children.
Matthew Coleman Arrested On Charges And Trial
On August 9, 2021, Coleman, 40, is accused of killing the 10-month-old child and the 2-year-old son. Coleman is accused of two counts of international first-degree murder of Americans in the indictment that was released today.
The charges could lead to a death sentence. At a later time, the Attorney General will choose whether to ask for the death sentence.
