Ashlee Baracy has returned to Detroit with WDIV Local 4. She had her first day at her new job on January 16, a month after she left WBNS-TV.
Baracy is back home to Michigan, Detroit, back with the station after leaving in October 2015.
“Home is where your heart is, and I could not be happier to be back forecasting the weather for my hometown community,” she said.
Ashlee and Ron Hilliard were the newly added members of the WDIV team.
Baracy, from southeast Michigan, moved to Columbus, where she married ‘her best friend,’ Jeff Kunkel, in 2017 and had two adorable kids, a son Carter and a daughter, Caylee.
“Some opportunities are ones you simply can’t let slip away,” Baracy said while announcing her decision to leave WBNS-TV.
Ashlee Baracy Bitter-Sweet Departure From WBNS-TV
WBNS-TV Channel 10 Meteorologist Ashlee Baracy decided to leave the news station in December 2022.
Her last day was December 16, as declared by the station on a social media post.
Baracy stated in an email exchange with The Dispatch, “I feel like I have packed a lot in these seven years, and it has been such a pleasure doing it with the support of this community.”
She added that she had not taken the decision to move on from WBNS lightly but that it was deeply rooted in her family’s future.
Baracy then wished everyone would tune in for her last newscast on 10TV, when she would pay tribute to the people in Columbus. “My success is their success too, and I am eternally grateful,” she added.
Baracy called Central Ohio her home, and the decision to move on from 10TV was a difficult one.
Cardenas also assured that Baracy gave “plenty of notice about her impending departure” and that they will announce a new chief meteorologist in the coming days.
