Bernard von Bredow and his daughter Lydia were supposedly murdered in Paraguay by their neighbors. Bernard had previously entrusted his Stradivarius violins to his neighbor Volker Grannass. Bernard’s action proved to be catastrophic for both him and his daughter.

Grannass, 58, and two other Germans are currently in police arrest. Four of Bernard’s Stradivarius violins were discovered in Grannas’ home by the police. Bernard and Lydia were tortured and slain, according to Police Commissioner Hugo Grance.

Father Bernard was discovered with a bullet wound in his head, tossed on a table. Bernard’s body was also covered in bruises. Lydia was discovered dead in a bathtub with a gunshot wound in her stomach.

Grance went on to say that the murders took place elsewhere and that the bodies were afterward transported inside the victims’ homes.

More than two people were involved in the crime, according to evidence at the scene, and the killers were seeking something valuable.

The Stradivarius violins could not be marketed without legitimate certification, according to Commissioner Grance. Yves Asriel Spartacus Steinmetz, 60, and Stephen Jorg Messing Darchinger, 51, were hired by Volker Grannass to torture Bernard and Lydia in order to obtain the certificate.

Because the matter is still under investigation, the three German men have not been charged with murder. Prosecutors in the case said it was only a matter of time before the court sentenced the three to prison for such a heinous conduct. The location of the violin certifications is unknown at this time.
