The Natalie Medical Building, a physicians’ office building on the St. Francis Hospital campus, got a call regarding an gunman shortly after 4:50 p.m. local time, according to Dalgleish.
He further added that investigators are interrogating witnesses who were present in the building. He claimed that one witness was discovered imprisoned in a cupboard.
Within minutes, officers arrived on the site and established contact with the victims and the perpetrator, Dalgleish said.
According to the deputy chief, cops responding to the scene heard gunshots within the building, which led them to the second floor.
“It’s a dreadful tragedy,” Meulenberg remarked. “It’s a horribly tragic event,” Meulenberg said. “I’m very, very proud of the officers for getting there as quickly as they did, very well potentially stopping more people from losing their life today.”
