Alex Wagner is married to her husband, Sam Kass. At the Blue Hill at Stone Barns restaurant in Pocantico Hills, New York, on August 30, 2014, Wagner married Sam Kass, a former White House nutrition policy advisor and assistant chef.

As Sam is a family friend of the former president, Barack Obama and his family were present for the wedding. The couple got engaged for a year before getting married.

Kass was appointed as a senior food analyst by NBC News in 2015, with responsibility for reporting on issues including healthy eating, food trends, and policy across all NBC News platforms.

Cyrus, the first child of Wagner and Kass, was born in 2017. Rafael, their second child, was taken to her on April 16, 2019.
