At the age of 32 years old, Phillips became the mother of her first baby, Noami Angelina Richardson on August 16, 2021. Noami means “pleasant one” and Angelina is a tribute to her beloved maternal grandmother who left the world in 2014.
She joined CNN in 2017 and before that, she had worked for The Washington Post where she did national political reporting and general assignments.
Phillips had also worked with ABC News, she was an ABC News Fellow and digital reporter in New York City, U.S. She started her career as a White House reporter and blogger for Politico. She covered up campaign finance issues and lobbying.

Abby Phillips is the daughter of June Phillip and Carlos Phillip. She lives with her husband, Marcus Richardson, and her daughter, Noami Angelina Richardson in Washington D.C.
The couple got married at the Larz Anderson House in May 2018 and announced that Phillips was pregnant with their first child in 2021. She is also an honorary member of Delta Sigma Theta sorority.

The 33-year-old even has appeared sometimes on Washington Week with Robert Costa on PBS. On January 14, 2020, she co-moderated the seventh Democratic debate of the 2020 Democratic Party presidential primaries at Drake University.
The journalist was also criticized for the unjust treatment of Bernie Sanders in moderating the debate. Later in 2020, she got a deal with Flatiron Books for The Dream Deferred, a book she is writing about Respected Jesse Jackson’s run to become the 1988 Democratic presidential nominee. Its release date was announced for 2022, and it will be the first major present-day book on the life and political legacy of Jackson.
