On June 22, at around 6.40 a.m., police received a report of two adults suffering gunshot wounds. Eric Huard, 51, and Courtney Huard, 42, both of Cumberland, Rhode Island, were declared dead at the scene.
The couple’s three children—Grant, Blake, and Sydney—were found unharmed at their Birchwood Drive home.
Police believe that the shooting was an isolated incident and that “this was not a random act of violence,” according to Cumberland Police Chief Matthew Benson.

Cumberland Police Chief Matthew J. Benson gave an update on Courtney and Eric Huard’s deaths on Friday. In 1998, Courtney received her high school diploma from Cumberland.
She graduated from URI with a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics in 2003 and a Master of Science in Nutrition in 2006.
The investigation, according to the police, also showed that Eric Huard shot himself to death.
According to her obituary, Courtney Huard ran a diet and nutrition practice and was a “loving and dedicated mother” to the couple’s three children, Grant, Blake, and Sydney Huard.
Grief counselors will be available to students, staff, and community members at the Cumberland School Department.

On Wednesday morning, the bodies of a 42-year-old Cumberland woman and her 51-year-old husband were found inside their home.
Courtney Huard and Eric Huard were both shot and declared dead after police arrived at their home at 28 Birchwood Drive, according to Cumberland Police Chief Matthew Benson.
Early on Thursday afternoon, Benson identified the couple and made few comments about the police inquiry into the specifics of the shooting.
The shooting remains a “isolated incident,” Benson said, adding that “the investigation thus far indicates that this was not a random act of violence.”
Police arrived at the home at 6:40 a.m. for a report of “two adults suffering from gunshot wounds,” according to Benson, but all three of the couple’s children were unharmed inside.

While their children were still alive, a husband and wife were found shot to death in their own home.

Three of the couple’s children were still living at home when their parents passed away.
The three kids were not hurt in the attack. More details about the kids have not yet been disclosed by the authorities.
The three kids of Mr. and Mrs. Huard were reportedly discovered in their house unharmed. The investigation has thus far shown that this was not a violent act committed at random.
