However, after Illinois judge reversed his own decision to convict a teen accused of raping a 16-year-old girl in May to avoid giving him the mandatory sentence of four years in prison which he thinks is excessive for the crime.
Drew has spent five months in the county jail awaiting sentencing. At a January sentencing hearing, his attorney begged the judge to overturn his guilty verdict, or to at the very least ignore the state’s mandatory minimum sentence of four years in prison.
1/ Illinois Judge Robert Adrian NOT sentencing Drew Clinton 18, to Department of Corrections for raping Cameron Vaughan 16, has really pissed me off this morning. To fight against this as a woman seems pointless if this is the precedent set. https://t.co/hrM3JVlukl

Cameron Vaughan Facebook Photos And Judge Decision
An Illinois judge reversed his decision to convict a boy accused of raping a 16-year-old girl in May in order to avoid imposing the mandatory four-year sentence, which he believes is excessive for the offense.
Drew Clinton, 18, was found guilty by Judge Robert Adrian, 64, of s3*xually assaulting Cameron Vaughan, now 16, during a graduation celebration at another teenager’s house in Quincy, Illinois, last May.
Cameron, who did not want to be identified, claims she passed out in the basement and awoke to find Drew s3*xually assaulting her with a pillow over her face. He maintains that they had consenting s3*x and that she was not as drunk as she claims.
Drew has been imprisoned in the county jail for five months while awaiting his punishment. During a sentencing hearing in January, his lawyer pleaded with the judge to overturn his guilty verdict or, at the very least, to disregard the state’s mandatory minimum penalty of four years in prison.
