A country pub has been applauded for its tongue-in-cheek response to a one-star review.
A man named Robert slammed the Gerogery Hotel, in rural NSW just 20 minutes north of Albury, as ‘absolutely disgusting’ for serving someone ‘obese’ lots of food.
Staff were left scratching their heads over the hostile feedback from the ‘pathetic, judgmental keyboard warrior’ and encouraged fans to tag their ‘favourite Robert’ who isn’t a ‘internet troll’ to offset the negativity.
The pub is famed for its ‘challenge meals’ where patrons try to finish a huge plate of either steak, chicken parmigiana or a burger in under an hour.
Gerogery hotel publican Norm Carl told FEMAIL that Robert had never even visited the establishment but somehow took issue with their food challenges.
Gerogery Hotel has left hundreds in stitches with its cheeky response to a cruel one-star review calling the establishment ‘absolutely disgusting’
A man named Robert slammed the pub for serving a huge ‘challenge meal’ to a patron he described as ‘obese’
‘What sort of world do we live in that someone can leave a review of business that they haven’t even been to?’ he said.
The owner added he doesn’t see many negative comments on the hotel’s socials and often ignores trolls so as not to ‘encourage them’.
However, Norm had to turn off comments on one particular post of a diner after it copped nasty backlash – prompting Robert to take to Google to complain instead.
‘Why the hell would you serve someone this obese that much food? Absolutely disgusting,’ Robert wrote.
‘Might as well put up a pic of an [alcoholic] drinking jugs. Be better.’
Gerogery Hotel management hit back at Robert, who they said was not welcome at the establishment.
‘He seems to be a pathetic, judgmental keyboard warrior hiding behind a restricted profile. We think Robert should take his own advice and be better,’ they said.

‘We realise lots of Roberts are awesome. Robert Downey Jr, Robert De Niro, Robert Irwin. Tag a Robert who is a top bloke and isn’t a internet troll who should visit the G-Rodge because they are welcome.’
They added the hotel offers and serves whatever their customers want, and reported the review for going ‘completely against’ what they believe in.
‘Gerogery Hotel NSW is an inclusive welcoming environment where you come for a great feed and a good time. Feel free to do the same.’
Many jumped to the pub’s defence and thought the response to Robert’s dismal review was hilarious.
‘I think he should change his name to Stephen. He is not welcome in the Robert club,’ another Robert said.
‘All I heard from that review was that you guys serve big meals, sounds good to me,’ one user laughed.
‘Is he complaining about the size of his own meal being too big? What would he like the staff to do? Weigh, portion control and do a nutrition chart on it for him?’ someone asked.
Gerogery Hotel patrons can opt in to put their stomachs to the test by polishing off one of the huge challenge meals in less than an hour.
Management suspect Robert has never visited the Hotel as his review was accompanied by a photo of a man eating one of their challenge meals taken from their Facebook page
There is a $45 ‘Double Stacka’ chicken parmigiana, $45 five-patty ‘Quintuple G-Rodge burger’ or the $50 1kg rump steak with a huge serving of salad and chips.
The mammoth meals seem to have become a divisive topic on the hotel’s Facebook page with some saying they look like a ‘heart attack’ on a plate.
‘Most of the responses we get on Facebook are positive, 99.9 per cent of people see it for what it is and it’s a bit of fun,’ Norm said.
‘People complain about the starving or the homeless but they are the minority who don’t understand eating a large meal has no impact on someone sleeping rough.’
Norm had posted a photo of a local who had taken on the challenge with a group of friends – as the hotel usually does when someone orders the meal.
‘He’s not an inactive guy, he’s part of the cricket club and came with rest of the team but he’s a larger guy so he got a lot of negative comments on the post,’ he said.
‘It got to a point were I thought I’d have to take down the post because it was online bullying but I found a way to turn off the comments.’
Norm said he was ‘horrified’ by the awful comments and was shocked when he saw Robert had posted the photo on his cruel Google review.
Thankfully, Google took the one-star review down as per Norm’s request.
He added that many fans on Facebook have dubbed the name Robert as the ‘new Karen’.
