Nicholas Kyle Hoffman, then 17, was charged as an adult with attempted murder in November 2017. The 16-year-old victim was pursued for stealing marijuana from Hoffman’s friend, according to the charging documents.
Prosecutors in Anne Arundel County claim Hoffman purposefully sped into the boy’s path before fleeing the scene. The fact that he sped away revealed his callous nature, as he demonstrated a lack of concern for the victim’s well-being.
After Hoffman turned 18, he was convicted of attempted first-degree murder in August 2018.
According to Patch in Edgewater, Maryland, the victim survived but had to be taken to a hospital for potentially life-threatening injuries.

According to the charging documents, the victim allegedly stole marijuana from Hoffman’s friend, leading police to believe he was targeted as a result. However, the victim made it through his ordeal, not without sustaining heavy injuries.
The female friend who was filming everything thought he was just trying to scare him, so she went along with it. However, some believe she should be locked up in prison as well for not stopping her friend.

Nicholas Hoffman of Davidsonville was sentenced to 25 years in prison by Anne Arundel County Circuit Court Judge Stacy McCormack during a hearing in Annapolis.
Hoffman was charged with attempted murder as an adult in November after police said they found a teenager in Edgewater with serious injuries after Hoffman intentionally struck him. At the time of the crime, Hoffman was 17 years old and a senior at his high school.
When the sentence was passed, Nicholas had turned of legal age and could be tried as an adult. The initial sentence was 10-18 years before it was pushed and finalized to 25 years.

Logan escaped with broken arms and legs after leaping onto the windshield at the last possible moment to avoid being hit.
