According to the RCMP, officers were called to 128 Street near 82 Avenue around 9:30 a.m. due to reports of gunfire. When they arrived, they discovered Malik.

Tanner Fox and Jose Lopez have been arrested for first-degree murder in connection with the shooting of Ripudaman Singh Malik in Surrey.
On the morning of July 14 in Surrey, British Columbia, Malik, 75, was shot multiple times outside his family’s shop, Papillon Eastern Imports.
The killing of Malik divided the Indo-Canadian society because of his controversial past. Malik was shot at 9:30 a.m, and according to the police, the vehicle with persons inside had been waiting for him hours before that.
The same car, a white Honda CRV, was later burnt not far from the shooting location. Police provided a picture and a video of the vehicle moving through a strip mall parking lot.
Still, they didn’t indicate how many individuals were inside because they didn’t want to “taint” prospective witnesses.
On June 23, 1985, Malik and his co-accused Ajaib Singh Bagri were not guilty of a crime and conspiracy concerning the Air India bombings.

Malik was “many times” shot, according to the police, who also said they think he was alone himself in his car at the time.

Malik handled two of the private school’s campuses in Surrey and Vancouver during his time as chairman of the Khalsa School.
Additionally, he served as president of the Khalsa Credit Union in Vancouver, which has more than 16,000 members.
After a protracted trial in B.C. Supreme Court in Vancouver, Malik was found not guilty of the 1985 Air India Bombing in 2005. Following the incident, a suspect vehicle was discovered on fire in the 12200 block of 82 Avenue.
Eight criminal counts against Malik, including ones involving bombs and first-degree murder, were all dismissed.
In association with the bombing of Air India Flight 182 on June 23, 1985, which led to the deaths of 280 Canadians, including 86 children, Malik was found not guilty of counts of mass murder and conspiracy.
All 329 crew and passenger members aboard Air India Flight 182 died when a bomb went off as the aircraft was flying from Toronto to London.
