According to press reports, Rodney Harris, 31, was charged Tuesday in federal court with possessing a firearm by a felon, according to an affidavit filed with the United States District Court for Eastern Tennessee.
According to the complaint, he was observed in a Facebook live video brandishing a firearm in front of Mary’s Bar & Grill and was one of the gunshot victims. It was unclear whether Harris had retained legal counsel.
According to Chattanooga Police Chief Celeste Murphy, 14 of the 17 victims were injured by gunshot, while three others were killed by vehicles as they attempted to flee the scene. Two of the three victims were murdered by gunfire, while the third was killed by a vehicle. Sixteen of the fatalities were adults, while one of the victims was a child.
